Kirjoittamani arvio play.com-sivustolle, ostohinta julkaisupäivänä 50 euroa Gigantista: "Overhyped yet enjoyable Posted: 03/09/2008 Many of you might call Grand Theft Auto IV the game of 2008, and it indeed is enjoyable to an extent, but to nominate it to be the best of the best is exaggeration. You assume the role of Nico Bellic, an exotic european with an accent, fresh off the boat at the Liberty City Harbor. You have moved there to get a fresh start - a life away from crime and grief. Now, this would normally happen by not being a jackass and shooting people in the face and running them over with buses, limos and sports cars, but Nico seems to think different, and that makes him the perfect candidate to be the main character of Grand Theft Auto, part 4. As in every GTA game before, you start small; you have to do chores for people and familiarize yourself with the city. The action escalates quickly, though, and you'll be poppin' crackas in no time. Speaking of poppin' crackas and doing chores (most of it involves driving around), shooting and driving has been improved considerably from the previous Grand Theft Autos. The first time I set foot in a car (well, you technically start the game in a car) I immediately felt that driving the piece of crap automobile you had was actually enjoyable, very much more so than ANY car in, say, GTA: San Andreas. Which is naturally a good thing since you're going to do it a lot. Back to the other part I mentioned; poppin' crackas. There are only a few guns in GTA IV, but they all feel very solid. Even the pistol you get first feels like it's got some serious stopping power, not to mention the shotgun you get later. Oh man, the GTA IV combat shotgun may even be the greatest, ballsiest shotgun in a video game ever. There are a few others, too, but they're pretty obvious for a GTA game. What I miss, though, are the gimmick weapons like flamethrowers and miniguns. The melee weapons are really lackluster, and there's only 2 of them, but all in all, the shooting part has been done well. Oh, and there's a cover system as well, but it's a bit clunky and I never use it. What really bugs me about GTA IV is that there's not much to do in Liberty City. While you could do loads of stuff in San Andreas, like deliver pizzas, the activities in Liberty City are very limited. Sure, you can go watch some comedy acts or grab a burger with a date if you like, but there's not much of a point to it gameplay-wise (you can unlock bonuses by being in good relations with some characters, but even those abilities are unreliable). You could get extra health or other small yet essential goodies for doing side missions in SA, but all that is missing from IV. All you are left with is the main story, which feels really short when you don't get distracted by other more menial tasks. There are some really good additions to the game, though. Especially the cellphone. You can call your friends (and your friends can call you, usually at times when you really don't want to be bothered), get a taxi at your location and even call some dudes for backup. Speaking of the taxi, the taxi service is really something in this game. You can ride one to wherever you want, just set a waypoint on the map and off you go. The waypoint also acts as a GPS route marker if you're in a car and the game automatically calculates a route to the destination, and it even takes one way streets into consideration. Sweet. So, yeah, bottom line: I was disappointed. There are some excellent and really polished features in GTA IV, but they haven't been put into real use. The game feels short (I'm giving this point the benefit of doubt because of DLC) and there's not much to do even if the city is big. It's like a solid, clean, cool looking sandbox that's missing all the toys. 3 stars, there are better games out there."
