Nostaako menneisyyden aave Kekkosen kuningastien pystyyn – vai tekeekö sen musta hevonen tai lyijynharmaa haulikuuro? Presidentinvaalien siintäessä tammikuun alussa 1956 yksikätinen yksityisetsivä Väinö Mujunen saapuu Orvokki-vaimonsa kanssa Rovaniemelle. Tuore hääpari kokee tylyn vastaanoton: haulikkohyökkäys Hotelli Pohjanhovin edustalla hämärtää taivaan lyijynharmaaksi. Jo Helsingissä Mujunen on törmännyt muutamaan ruumiiseen ja joutunut itsekin sairaalaan jäljittäessään apulaisineen suurta salaliittoa, joka tuntuu liittyvän lähestyviin presidentinvaaleihin. Jutun juuret löytyvät kuitenkin lähihistoriasta eri puolilta maata. Urho Kekkosen viholliset eivät kaihda keinoja estääkseen hänen vaalivoittonsa. Tappolistoja laaditaan. Miten kovassa pelissä käy Mujusen uuden onnen? Onko lopulta jäljellä vain kosto? Lyijynharmaa taivas on kymmenes historiallinen dekkari Tapani Baggen kehutussa ja suositussa värisarjassa. Sarja kyydittää Väinö Mujusta ja Suomea läpi 1900-luvun kuohuvien
