Aingeru Epaltza (s. 1960) kuuluu Baskimaan kiinnostavimpiin nykykirjailijoihin. Kaunokirjallisen toimintansa ohella hän on työskennellyt toimittajana ja kääntäjänä. Hänen kirjallinen tuotantonsa koostuu romaaneista, novellikokoelmista ja näytelmistä. Epaltzan ensimmäinen, historiallinen romaani Sasiak ere begiak baditik (1986) voitti Iruñean kaupungin palkinnon parhaasta esikoiskirjasta. Vuonna 1997 Baskimaan kirjallisuuspalkinto myönnettiin hänen romaanilleen Tigre ehizan (1997). Hänen teoksiaan on käännetty espanjaksi, ranskaksi, katalaaniksi ja saksaksi. Epaltzan romaanissa Rock'n'roll on pääosassa samannimisen musiikin sävyttämä sukupolvi, hyväntahtoisen ironisessa valossa nähtynä. Tarinaa keritään sanomalehden toimituksessa, kapakassa, mutkallisten perhesuhteiden äärellä. Mutta päähenkilön ruumiillistama, arjen absurdiudelle alistunut elämänasenne johtaa farssimaiseen selviytymisleikkiin, joka saa huomaamatta vaarallisen käänteen. Toveruuden railakas arvaamattomuus kätkee
